This policy explains what personal information "The Bridge Adv Runs" (also called "Bridge Runs," "the app") collects, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We wrote it in plain language for our community. If anything here is unclear, please reach out using the contact details at the bottom.
The app is a simple tool for organizing a weekly recreational basketball run connected to The Bridge church in Markham, Ontario. It is currently built and operated by an individual developer (Daniel, "the Developer") for community use.
Right now, the Developer operates the app and is responsible for the information it holds. If the app is ever handed over to The Bridge church ("the Church"), the Church would take over hosting and become responsible as the data custodian. We will update this policy and let users know if that happens.

We only collect what we need to run the check-in and community features:

Note on the physical-activity waiver: The waiver that covers the risks of playing basketball is handled separately on the Church's ChurchCenter system, not inside this app. That waiver has its own terms.

Our basis for handling your information is your consent, given when you create an account and use the app, plus what is reasonably necessary to provide the service you signed up for. Under Canadian privacy law (including PIPEDA, which is likely to apply if the app is ever licensed or sold commercially), we aim to collect only what we need, use it only for the reasons above, and keep it secure.
You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your account (see "Your rights" below). Some features won't work without the basic information (for example, we can't sign you in without an email).
Please treat the group chat as semi-public within the community. Don't share anything there you wouldn't want other players to see.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service can promise perfect security. If the app is handed over to the Church, hosting and data storage would move to the Church's own infrastructure, and the Church would be responsible for securing it from that point.
We keep your information for as long as you have an account and are part of the run, so features like attendance history work. If you leave the group or ask us to delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep something to meet a legal obligation.

Youth may take part in the run, which means the app could hold information about minors. This needs a clear decision before the app is used commercially.

If personal information is lost, stolen, or accessed by someone who shouldn't have it, and it creates a real risk of harm, we will take reasonable steps to contain it and will notify affected users and any authority required by law.

We may update this policy as the app grows or if it is handed over to the Church. If we make an important change, we'll let users know through the app or by email.
